Tom tom froze

Hold the power button down for approximately 20 seconds, you will hear the tomtom 'drums' . Now release the power button immediately and wait about 2 minutes for it to reboot. All this after leaving on charge for an hour 1st.

There are 6 screens in the "Change Preferences" menu.
"Set clock" is the 1st item on page 6. (As is the "Reset factory settings" option for problems that seem insurmountable :o)

Remove the SD card

The card needs to be formatted properly first that's all,

formatting is better done in a card reader.

Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system

Update your device without the SD card.

Make sure your GPS runs OK without the SD card

Now re-connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.

You now ned to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.

In windows explorer select tools then folder options.

Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.

then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your sd card

DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !

Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the sd card and re-boot
It should now work again

I have had a frozen screen on my TOM TOM - I solved this problem by resetting the TOM TOM. I did this by pressing the pinhole reset buttom on the back of the unit - labled RESET.

If you have really forgotten your password and can't remember it, you need to send your device to TomTom.

do you have a sd card in the unit? take it out and push the reset button
