Why won't Mac OS X Version 10.5.6 recognize my JVC GR DVF 21.

We have imovies08 on our MAC OS X Version 10.5.6 and it is supposed to automatically open an import window when my camcorder JVC GR DVF 21 is connected to the MAC with a firewire. It doesn't. Does anyone have any solutions so that I can import video from the GR DVF21 to the MAC? Someone mentioned elsewhere recDV application, but it didn't work for us. Am I missing something?

Nope. The common cause of this is either dirty heads or an alignment. Try a head cleaner first or just run a blank tape from start to finish is scan mode (play then FF as a scan). That should resolve the problem. If not, then we'll go to the next step.

SOURCE: can't transfer videos from JVC Everio camcorder onto my MAC

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

SOURCE: I have a gr-dvf21 camcord that I want to use on my

If you can buy the tuner card, and do the recording. The best tuner card is from WinFast TV 2000 XP. It has video in, capabilities and recording is easy. It not even expensive and even you can edit the video in a professional way. i have done on many occasions and found out to be very reliable. Regarding to the camcorder, you have, if possible get the software driver and load in your pc. Read the instructions carefully and try to use it.

Fuji j10 - my mac wont recognise it even using finepix

I had the same problem with my camera & mac.  I got this off the Fuji site and it worked for me:
If images cannot be downloaded from the camera to a Macintosh, check the status of the camera and the Macintosh and resolve the problem accordingly.

1) Check the status of the camera and Macintosh.
1. Connect your camera to the Macintosh and turn the camera on.
2. Open the "Applications" folder on the Macintosh HD.
3. Double-click "Image Capture".
* If the "Imaging device not connected" message appears, follow the steps described in [Checking the connection between the camera and PC].
4. Select "Preferences" from the "Image Capture" menu.
5. The procedure for using the Image Capture Preferences window differs depending on the OS version used. Use the correct procedure for your version of Mac OS.
- Mac OS 10.4: Click "General" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.3: Click "Camera" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.2: Simply proceed to the next step.
6. In "Items launched at camera connection", select "FPVBridge" and then click the [OK] button.
* If FPVBridge is not among the displayed items, follow the steps in [Displaying FPVBridge] below.
7. Quit "Image Capture".

If you implement the above procedure up to step 6, FinePix Viewer launches automatically.
* To stop FinePix Viewer from launching automatically, follow the steps in [FinePix Viewer Setup] below.
