Please check if the control panel is properly connected to the PCB. Or better still if there is a ribbon cable connecting the two then remove the cable from both ends and reconnect.
you have a broken connection between the player and the screen. its a flat cable and need to be replace.
if your handy, buy one at the shop and replace it yourself.
A guy name Rick sell them on Ebay. His company's name is SAME DAY AUDIO SERVICE. He is very reliable. It run about $65 or you can have hime replace it for about $85 plus shipping. Goodluck.
See if there is a break in the ribbon cable.Place a light behind the ' ribbon ' so that you can see the the wires in the tape. If you see a break in the wire inside the ' ribbon ', you will have to ' jump ' the break with a wire soldered to each side of the break. You must strip ( vary carefully ) the plastic on EACH SIDE OF THE BREAK to reach the metel conduct. If you can, strip the plastic or melt it over the break and ' dap ' it with solder to reconnect the break.
Be careful because the ribbon with the electrical cable inside is very thin and fragil
The power supply is probably bad and needs repair. Check the 5 volt output for the correct voltage and look for swollen leaky capacitors that need replaced. If the P/S is badly burned you'll have to replace it. Also, they don't last long so if you have used it a lot for a year or more the laser & motors are probably worn out and the ribbon cable connecting the laser carriage may be broken at the end. The ribbon cable can be replaced but there's nothing you can do for the motors or the laser.
