SyncMaster 204 Samsung monitor has no power

My SyncMaster 204B Samsung monitor has no power. The power button light is not even on. The on/off button on the back is on. Power core is tested and good. I bought it new two years ago. It was fine this morning until the power to the house was out. When the power to the house was back on, the monitor is jusl like dead. Please help, thanks.

I have it hooked up to a surge protector. My computer is hooked up to the same surge protector, too. The computer power is ok. I checked the power at the monitor-end of the monitor power cable, and it is ok.

Have you tried to plug it in else where?
If you did and still same problem then from what you said I was hopping that it wouldn't be your problem, but you will need a new monitor.

ONLY BLINKING POWER BUTTON ON THE DMONITOR. NOTHING ELSE IS THERE.

Hello,

This is a common problem with the Samsung 204B units that have been in service for a few years. Parts called capacitors in the power supply start failing and causing the board to not start correctly. The blinking power button is just the power supply restarting over and over. The monitor is easily repairable, you just need to replace the 5 capacitors that have failed. Here is a link to a page that shows how to open the monitor, get to the power supply board and what to replace.

Samsung syncmaster 204b not turning on- My monitor's problem was when it switched off, the only way to make it work was switching off main power, and turning on again, then it would come back on flickering...

With certain Samsung models, not only do the capacitors go, but the MOSFETS will go as well, possibly a fuse. The MOSFETs are the big bulky black things with a silver tab and three legs. Should be between the capacitors and the transformers. Just pull those both out and test them (Google "test MOSFETS") One is probably bad but they must be replaced in pairs.

My SyncMaster 204B Monitor just stopped working. It worked fine this morning before I left for work, but when I arrived home, it wouldn't power up. I've been Duel Screening for about 2 yrs with no problems...

Replace the screen with a known working one. If it shows display then it is the screen which is broken, if not, then it could be the port on which it is connected.

Power Button Light Flickers, wont' turn on

Hello,

Your monitor has a common problem, the power supply board is blown. Because of the heat trapped inside the monitor parts called capacitors have been damaged. We have a repair guide on our web site for the Samsung 214t series and your 204 is very similar and they use the same parts to repair them. Check out our site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
