SyncMaster 204 Samsung monitor has no power

Hello,

This is a common problem with the Samsung 204B units that have been in service for a few years. Parts called capacitors in the power supply start failing and causing the board to not start correctly. The blinking power button is just the power supply restarting over and over. The monitor is easily repairable, you just need to replace the 5 capacitors that have failed. With certain Samsung models, not only do the capacitors go, but the MOSFETS will go as well, possibly a fuse. The MOSFETs are the big bulky black things with a silver tab and three legs. Should be between the capacitors and the transformers. Just pull those both out and test them (Google "test MOSFETS") One is probably bad but they must be replaced in pairs.

in near your monitor u find any metallic product than you please remove the the monitor and plug in another side if your problems is steel not solved than you please contact samsung service center regarding this issue...........

Replace the screen with a known working one. If it shows display then it is the screen which is broken, if not, then it could be the port on which it is connected.

Your monitor has a common problem, the power supply board is blown. Because of the heat trapped inside the monitor parts called capacitors have been damaged. Got the same problem, happened yesterday for me, Did some research and it looks like its bad capacitors in the back, check out this page for more information... i'm taking mine to an electrician to fix today... luckily he's related and should be able to fix it on the cheap...

I too have a dual monitor Samsung SyncMaster 204 setup. My monitors started flickering, then a week later had turn on problems like your describe. I found a fix on this fixya website and followed the fairly techie suggestion. It worked. I wrote up a .pdf set of instructions so others might also benefit. Hope this helps. Doug

Screen control on the fly back transformer may be defective. Replace the flyback transformer.
