Hi,
This post might be of some help/idea...

The only difference is your model uses Western Digital and not Seagate. Yours can still be recognized but Windows consider it non-formatted.
First try a data recovery software and another storage medium where you can copy the files if you're successful in the recovery.
Good luck and kind regards.
Being relatively new, you of course should claim for a replacement, again after you have copied/recovered whatever files you need.
Post back how things are or should you need further information.P.S.

Since it is a WD, I would take it back for testing. There are know issure with the firmware on these drives and this problem sounds like a firmware problem
Check transmission fluid with vehicle up to temp (after driving) and running at idle on level ground. If slightly overfull no problem. Be sure to remove dipstick, wipe clean and reinstall/remove for accurate fluid level check.
Hi stuhubbard. "joul" posted this fix in response to my WD issues. Check it out....
"joul" I had the same problem today and I solved it...
Go to the Western Digital official website, choose your model and
download the driver for win98..it works magically with XP. Fast and
easy :)
My WD fixed itself, but this seems like a likely fix if you are still having problems. Perhaps let "joul" know if this is useful for you.
