Motherboard replacement My toshiba qosmio f15-AV201 has been diagnose with defective motherboard. I came across a piece of info in the net that says that toshiba was calling back the prodect for replacement due to defective system production. Can you confirm and assist me how to go about it?

Have you tried downloading the most recent driver from the Toshiba support site? The site can be found here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp Select your laptop's make and model, and look for the category "Driver" and "Sound". There should be a link to download the ADI WDM Audio Driver. Install that driver on your system and reboot.

install your original sound driver. remove conflict drivers.

i have the same problem but the power is completely shutdown

i am no whizz, but i think, just THINK maybe you should get some friend or relative to check the wiring to the fan and the power button, maybe when cleaning the fan, the wires were losen, as the button is millimeters away from the fan.

maybe the lightbulb is bent/damaged or has a wire loosly connected, i dont really know anything about computer hardware, i just know some software issues that can be fixed easily

Yeah, laptops don't have a seperate video card like a desktop.But it may not be the vidieo chip.It might just be an inverter problem,which is relatively simple and inexpensive.I can't be sure unless I see it . shops are notorius for trying to sell people new motherboards.Get a second opinion.
