Cannot get the IC Recorder to connect to laptop through USB cable

I downloaded the Vista Upgrade pack which enabled me to launch the Voice Editing Software that came with the device. However, when I plug the USB connection cable from the device to my laptop, the ''PC'' indicator does not read on the device monitor - and the software doesn't read the device. Is this a driver issue? What can I do to know for sure?

There are 2 possible options, one is installing the driver or if you're on vista installing the update to connect.

Update:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Audio/Portable-Audio/Recorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.RR-US470.D#ts

Driver:
What you need to do is unistall the driver for the device and reinstall it using the CD.

1. With the device connected go to the control panel
2. Search "driver" in the search box at the top right hand side of the screen
3. Choose the "device manager" option. If a pop up appears just choose continue.
4. At the bottom of the list open the menu for the "Universal Serial Bus Controllors" if it is not already open.
5. Double click on the "Panasonic IC Recorder" choice to open a new menu
6. Click on the "driver" tab
7. At the bottom of the list is the "uninstall driver (Advanced)" button, click it
8. After the driver is uninstalled disconnect the device from the PC
9. Reconnect the device, and it will bring up a new pop up. Choose the "Install Driver" option, it should be the first
10. It will then ask you to insert the CD that came with the device, just insert disc 1 in to the CD tray

Vista takes over from there and installs the driver for you and now your device will show the PC on the screen.

Hope that helps!

Sony IC Recorder (ICD-P620)

  • I got this recorder for college. i read up on it to make sure that it works for vista home. It said it did so i opened it, know i couldn't return it if i opened it because i got it from the college book store. So it didn't work so i was very upset so i called sony to see what the problem was so the told me that all their products only work with a 32 bit operating system from vista and i have a 64 bit operating system there for it wont work for my computer and i cant return it and i cant get a refund so now im stuck with this junk i cant use. anyway to check if you have a 32bit or 64 bit operating system go to you start bar and right click on the computer button on the right click properties it should tell you there what you have if it said 32 bit i would call sony and have it repaired if you have a 64 bit take it back to the store you got it from it wont work

Can't download from RR-US395 to my laptop which has Windows Vista

we have found an update on the panasonic web site. Wich uptdates to 1.10 and makes the software work but can't get the recorder to work. when we attach the recorder vista keeps asking for the M66291GP driver that acording to my searches corresponds to the RR-US395 and other models of numeric recorders.

M66291GP is unknown on the panasonic web site.

Download Sony ICD-B25 digital recorder to computer

I have found conflicting information on this recorder. According to product specs on Amazon.comUK This recorder has no computer connection.

If this product description is wrong you should see a USB connection somewhere on the recorder. Just connect the USB cable from recorder to your computer. If you did not receive a USB cable with your recorder you will have to buy one. You will have to determine if you need a mini or regular USB cable. Then double click on my computer. You should see the device listed there. Double click on the Sony device icon. The files on your recorder should now be showing. You should then be able to drag the files to a folder of your choosing on your computer.

Voice Editing 1.0 premium Update for Vista

Try this

Uninstall the software.

Reinstall the software

After installing the software update from Panasonic, plug your recorder into the computer. Go into 'Control Panel' and select 'Hardware and Sound'. Then Select 'Device Manager' and select 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'. You should have a device for 'Panasonic IC Recorder', it might be flagged yellow, right click on it and select 'uninstall'. Unplug your recorder from the computer, replug your recorder into the computer, the Device Manager screen will refresh and you should have 'Panasonic IC Recorder' back in the list. Try the Voice software, you should have in the drive list 'IC recorder'. Transfer your files.

It worked for me,

JNC Voice Recorder USB-350

It does not, and you cannot - I checked. I'm not being mean, but Vista is incompatible with MANY, MANY products, which is why XP has been the standard for over 5 years now. This voice recorder was made before even XP became the standard. You will need an older computer to get it to work.
