Cub cadet lawn tractor

I have a cub cadet lawn tractor 1500 series - 6 yr olds it will only go forward at a VERY SLOW pace with little, or no power. It can barely make it up any type of incline. What could be causing this sudden loss of power & speed?

MOST likely cause is a worn/failed drive belt. I'd replace that first - be SURE to use a Kevlar belt or you'll be repeating the repair in a very short time frame.

SOURCE: hydrostat trans starting to make moaning noise stops pulling

it may be full of dirt etc and has soaked up most of the oil inside the case, if the axle seals are worn and the selector shaft seal is worn I would say that is the problem, if that is the case you may be up for a new trans as I have done a transaxle just recently and the damage inside was extensive and expensive.
you will have to remove the trans and seperate the trans case for inspection
Hope this helps

SOURCE: Electric clutch on my 4 yr old Cub Cadet 2518 was intermittent

check fuse or power it up seperatly with 12volts (battery directly into the two terminals) to see if it is a wiring fault but it sounds like you need a new clutch assembly $$$

SOURCE: Lawn tractor forward movement problem

Check the adjustment from the lever to the transaxle, if the linkage is ok the transaxle may be suffering from age and has leaking internal seals.

SOURCE: cub cadet lawn tractor, ran out of gas. After

I would bet that the throttle shaft is worn and has a lot of play in it on the carburator. This is very common. The best bet is to have the carburator worked on by a small engine repair shop, or get a replacement one.

Cub Cadet GT 2554 Garden tractor. I have a heavy duty GT 2554 & it's super slow. How can I change that? I've already replaced the hydraulic fluids and filters.

Question edited for FULL 'make model (what it is)'.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to Club Cadet category.

It is a known issue. You have to decrease reverse speed to increase forward speed according to one of these articles.

How to put cub cadet Series 1500 in neutral

The transmission returns to the neutral position when the drive pedal is released.

To freewheel the hydrostat drive, pull the bypass rod located on the back of the tractor. See page 15 of the owners manual.

My 1500 series cub cadet 42" mower with hydro transmission runs good but mowes very slow. What could be the problem?

Is the tractor moving slow or are the blades moving slowly? The belt on the mower blades may be slipping. If the tractor is moving slowly look to see if the transmission needs fluid.

Lack of power

I had the same problem with my 2011 i1042. Turned out to be drive belt not snug enough. Installed new drive belt all OK now - plenty of power & speed, no slipping. good luck. (BTW: it was a REAL PAIN to remove and replace the belt!)

Blown fuse. There is a fuse somewhere thats blown. It will be about a 15 amp in a fuse holder either back by the battery or behind the dash. U didnt specifiy the 100 number If thats a starter-gen it could be a reg- relay issue.
