I bought a faulty Panasonic DMR-EZ25 on eBay, got it repaired and I was resetting the options and came across the Owner ID information that had been entered and which, obviously, I would like to change. Unfortunately, there is a PIN Number that has to be entered before I can do this, but I don't know what it is. I tried 0000, 1111 through to 9999, 0123, 1234 & 9876, but none of them worked. I have e-mailed the person I bought it from but I haven’t had any reply. Can anyone tell me if there is a universal Pin Number that Panasonic Engineers use, so that I can access and clear the previous owner’s details ??
Try a hard reset. press up and down arrow (channel) buttons until Pan signs off. Let go and wait a few minutes, Turn power back on. You should get flashing 12:00. Go into setup and set language and time. There is also a reset. Open the door on the front of the unit located on the right end. Just a good light and look for a small rounded object. It looks like a fancy rivet head or a piece of plastic. Press on it and it will give. Unit will reset. There is also a slot on the bottom of the unit Panasonic manual and techs don't tell owners about. On right side of the slot is a plastic bar. Slide it all the way to the left and the DVD tray will open. Use something hooked to open it. Move the bar gradually, small with pulling the DVD tray open. Ease the tray closed again, then slide the bar all the way back to the right. The Pan cannot control the tray until you do this.Try a hard reset. press up and down arrow (channel) buttons until Pan signs off. Let go and wait a few minutes, Turn power back on. In response to your enquiry, I am writing to inform you that you can reset the PIN number to the default 0000 and then change it, based on your preference. In order to reset the PIN, please follow the next steps:
1. Switch ON the unit;
2. Press and hold the OK, YELLOW and BLUE buttons, at the same time, until you see 00 RET displayed on the unit;
3. Press, repeatedly, the RIGHT ARROW buton until you see 03 VL;
4. Press OK and you should see "INIT" displayed on the unit.
This will reset the PIN number to the 0000 factory preset.
Furthermore, you should also be able to remove the message that is asking you for the child lock PIN while attempting to play back a recording. In order to do this, please follow the next steps:
1. Press SETUP;
2. Choose HDD/USB HDD;
3. Select CHILD LOCK FOR PLAYBACK;
4. Input the default 0000 code;
5. Switch it to OFF.
After performing these steps, the recorder should no longer ask you for the PIN when trying to playback a recording.
I trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
George

Contact Amazon since somebody set the pin number before the item was sent, the only other suggestion is check your owners manual for additional information, if no solution can be found and Amazon can't help, then it should be returned to them at their expence and they send a suitable exchange since warranty applies.
Try removing the cover and clean the glass laser eye with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Clean the glass laser eye. If cleaning doesn't work, then the circuit will need to be replaced.

The only ways to unlock a PIN locked Garmin are to enter the correct PIN number, or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was initially entered. Your only other option is to send the unit to Garmin.
