If it works when you wiggle it in the socket, it's not a driver issue. It's either a problem on the motherboard again, or a short in your microphone cable. As replacing a microphone is a lot easier than replacing the motherboard again, I'd suggest finding another microphone, plugging it in and seeing if that fixes it. If it doesn't, I'm afraid it's the motherboard.

Try to uninstall sound driver and reinstall sound driver again.
1. First solution : go to control panel, then system , device manager and select sound audio device , right click and uninstall the driver and restart the computer.
2. Soulution : check in system bios setup is there is any option available for mic enable or disable from there ?
3. update the sound driver.
4. check mic is working in another computer

Mic not working in Asus-KPLCM motherboard

This MIGHT be a driver related problem, but it could also be build problem. Are using the front panel outlets or the rear on-board outlets?

If its the front ones make sure they are going to the right sockets on the motherboard.. if its rear outlets from the motherboard then its definitely a driver issue.

However, check where the CD audio cable is going to on the M/B first.

Microphone

Open system properities. click hardware tab & than device manager. Scoll down to Sound, video & game controller. Do you see a yellow ! point there. That means the driver may need to be reinstalled. Asus is famous for having defective mic controllers & yes the sound works but no mic. You can also open control panel open sound & audio devices. You should have the same device under Audio & Voice. If you do, again your intergrated mic controller is bad. Your manual most likely will not have the correct number to call tech. They moved in 07. So I'll put it in here: 812-282-2787Tech IL Eastern Time. Good luck!
