First it froze while I was on vacation in California and would not shut off. Didn't know about the reset button till now. It finally shut off, I assume the battery died. Now nothing works to get it back. Tried the reset button, even while plugged in. Any ideas? Thanks

Been using this for a few months. Froze up on same song while on vacation last month, and continued to play same song on repeat until battery went down. Now is frozen with "Do Not Disconnect" as it was being charged on my laptop. Attempted to unplug and plug back in and Windows gives DO NOT DISCONNECT!!!!!
did you try holding the power button on for ten seconds (the reset) after trying to charge it again? does it even power up when you plug it into the usb. if it powers on when connected to the usb and then shuts off immediately when you take it off the usb (rather than "refreshing database") then your battery is either 1)disconnected inside 2)dead or there may be issues with power management. Same thing happened to me (disconnected) but I soldered the loose connection and it only worked for two days, even checking the connections again. Now I don't know what's going on. It's more likely the battery has reached the end of its life.
You have to pry off the silver-colored faceplate from the unit and you will find a reset button on the right side of the screen. Push this and everything will back to normal.
Stuck or frozen you have to hold the the menu and middle ong for 10-20-30 secs
hold the menu +center button and it will turn off and reset http://ipod.about.com/od/troubleshootingyouripod/ht/reset_ipod_vid.htm
When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
It will display the following options: first do a Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves. if cleanup didnt work do this Format (All)
