Bad battery I own the sony dsc-w30,one day, my brother charge the battery with an universal charger,since that day,the device just display "Use a compatible battery" and then turn off,please help me,cuz I don't know how to do

    Thanks for your help,but are u sure there is not a way rescue the battery?cuz I've look for another one without success,in fact I live in Cameroon and there is no branch of sony here so i really don't know what to do.Thanks

    I recognize words "universal charger", somehow my battery is also not breathing any more after using universal charger...

    Hi, I've owned a sony dsc-w100 which uses a sony np-bg1 battery for over a year with no problems . All of a sudden out of the clear blue sky, I turn it on this morning and after a few seconds it flashes the message "for use with compatible battery only " .It's the same battery as always . Is this an example

    of controlled obsolesence? It's over 1 year old and now out of warranty . Do you know if the problem is the battery or the camera ?

Are you sure it is your charger and not the battery? (Batteries)

You could buy a new Sony charger, but there are lots of universal camera battery chargers, that won't cost as much and you can use it for every battery from every camera. Pick the right one and you have a charger for years to come, whatever your new camera will be and how big or small the batteries are.

It is important for you to know that the specified charger that it is supposed to work with has a special method of charging it as the battery is a very delicate one. That is why it is specified that you have to use a compatible charger.
When you use a universal charger, it does not charge the battery as the battery is supposed to be charged. This inflicts some minor damage on the battery and makes it impossible for the battery to work.
The compatible charger has a unique spontaneous way of emitting charges into the battery and the universal charger lacks this. So when the universal charger is used, it does not emit the right amount of charge into the battery.
The only way around this is if you can modify the charger or the battery in such a way that it might work. But then, you maybe damaging your camera. Instead, buy a specified charger.

I have inherited a sony DSC-w100 8.1 megapix 3x zoom camera and have no charger or how to charge what code for the charger please I have 2 batteries sony G type NP-BG1 help please
I found a lot of chargers for this battery (and batteries too) by searching Amazon for "NP-BG1 charger". There are also cheap universal chargers, which will charge any of the small lithium batteries found in cameras and phones, on Amazon or eBay.

DSC W30 digital camera, wont power up!
This is embarrassing because I usually know what I'm doing with this stuff! I don't know why, but all it turned out to be for me anyway, is that the battery had lost its charge very quickly. I still don't know why but it's been fine since! I still ahve to cover the battery compartment door with tape but other than that, it's working as expected. Of course, I figured that out after I'd run out and bought a substitute!

Dark LCD screen
I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)
