Can I assume that you determined that the bottom burner flame is burning properly? To do this, remove the oven bottom insert. The flames should have approximately 1" of blue cone and should burn with no yellowing tip, if on natural gas. (A small yellow tip on the end of the outer cone is normal with most LP gas.) The flmaes should not lift off the burner ports. If the flame is lifting, gradually reduce the air shutter until the flame stabilizes. Go to the following website for your particular manual. http://www.hammerwall.com/Manuals/Kenmore/Description/362.75585890/Kenmore%20Free%20Standing%20Gas%20Range%20Owners%20Manual/L0522834/
The needle maybe damaged or missing inside of the hood, unscrew the hood and remove it, look at the needle and make sure it is intact, put a little liquid soap into the hood threads and screw it back on until it bottoms out, it will be much easier to feel it bottoming out if it has lube on it, if this does not work, call them and have them send you a LP specific hood rather than the adjustable type.
HI, To adjust the size of the flame, turn the orfice clockwise to make it smaller. you can also try and adjust the air shuttle on the burner. Are you trying to change from natural to LP? Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Al, you need to seat the needle valve on the bake. Remove the bottom drawer, right below the bake burner you will see the nut just below the air shutter adjustment. Turn this nut clockwise a few times, it might seem hard but just do it. Then try the bake again, you should have a nice bluel flame. Tenbears.
You need to tighten down the orifice spud for the bake burner. Remove drawer in bottom of oven. Look for bottom of burner tube, where the shutter adjustment is. Right below it is the orifice spud. Usually a goldish color. Take 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten until it stops. Do-not overtighten! Try it now. If flames are still to high, tighten a little more. Repeat if needed.
Just bought a Kenmore and did this conversion myself. You do not change the oven nozzle (jets) but have to wrench it down with a 1/2" wrench as per instructions. After I did this the falme was high as you described. I wrenched it down further and adjusted the air shuttle and it was fine. The brioler is done the same. The wrench adjustment is tight so be aware.
greg, sounds like your needle valve is not seated. Remove the bottom drawer. Look back to the base of the burner where the shutter air adjustment is. Right under there is the valve which should have a 1/2 inch or 7/16 nut. (I Forgot what size). Turn this nut clockwise until the flame is adjusted to the correct size, should be a nice blue flame. The nut maybe hard to turn because you are seating the needle. Catriver..post back
