Zune will not charge screen is blank just want to save hard drive

You would probably encounter less problems just replacing your iPod's HD with a new one.

RapidRepair sells them for $110 for an 80g, and their instructions are pretty good.

It looks like they might actually be interchangable, but in my experience 1st Gen Zunes have a lot of problems, especially with the batteries and HD's.

Personally, I would switch over to GNU/Linux.

Please try to hold Back, Center and Left at the same time to restore the zune,

have you updated it to the latest firmware? cause zune's had a major malfution to to this years "leap year" the time change/date change messed with the internal clock causing major malfunctions

The pixels may have burnt out in the screen. You may have to send it in to microsoft to get it replaced or fixed. You can still hook it into your computer and save all the files and songs on the zune currently.

I would think you need to reinstall the firmware. That or maybe your zune doesnt work with that drive.

in order to fix this . you have to restart the device. to restart the device you press and hold back while also pressing and holding the top part of the zune pad until screen goes blank and zune logo appears this should work. if contact support comes back up try restoreing the device.

it seems as if something may have been attached badly on the inside that is a facttory problem is it still under warenty? if so i would send it back for a new one

Try these ideas first, except calling for service since it's out of the warranty: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931912. If this doesn't work then, you'll have to erase all the content on your Zune through the buttons on it and use the Zune software to restore the firmware and getting it to boot again. If this doesn't work, then the hard drive may be bad in the Zune and will need to be replaced. If the hard drive is bad, you'll usually hear a lot of repetitive clicking. I hope this helps.

Try changing your screen saver to a basic windows screen saver and see if that helps.
