I have taken the adivice desriped within the solution pertaining to my sitaution, and still am unable to delete old music and install new music... I really need help, I am being told that the copy can not be replaced due to an open application using the file, however I don't have any other applications open when using my Opal.
Please respond as soon as possible.
You need to change to mode so that the device is recognized as a regular USB device. This will give you access to all the files on the thing. See this site for more info:
Basically, you need to go to you device manager. Find the OPAL device under Portable Devices. Hit properties. Select Update Driver. Manually select the driver from the list and use the USB Storage Device driver. This should fix most of your delete and creation problems.

The same thing happened to me.(I have a different model but I'm sure you can solve it the same) Go to the website and download the frimware thing and it will completly clean your MP3 of data you added. At least it did for me.
The "My Selections" playlist?
You have to delete the entire playlist.
Or do you just want to get rid of old music on it? It's a plug and play device (on XP at least) and you can delete what you don't want from there.
I erase them by plugging the player into my computer, then click on "My Computer".
One of the drives should be the Opal.
Double click to open this "drive" and then click and cut the songs you don't want.
Hope that helps!
