The dark side of the screen causes of the lamp alignment or prism glass alignment. This is critical you have to consult your LG technician to do this. But if you have any background o repair consult the service manual. Please careful not to touch the prism quarts so that you maintained the clarity of picture and brightness on the screen.

I have a samsung HLR6156WX. Bought it new 5 yrs ago gets very very little use (guest area). Turned it off and now it wont come back on. Ive read different post about slappint the left side after leaving it...

amount of use does not counter the fact the tv was 5 years old. a blub not used for 5 years can still burn out just like any other bulb. the only thing you can do is get it replaced.

3.5 " top to bottom area on left side clear and brite like HD but about 80% of the entire screen to the left of this is slightly duller as if there is a shade over the left side. TV is less than 2 years...

the backlighting in the tv might be going out. that is the first hing to look at. it might also be the liquid crystal display itself. you can look for the backlighting yourself by unscrewing the back panel from the lcd tv. and simply turning it on. you will see if one of the lights is dimmer than the other or just simply out. if you dont want to do that yourself take it to a tv shop and just have them look at it. most tv repair shops coast to coast dont charge to look at it for you. if one does go to the next. they are in just about every city. Losing image

i have a very simliar problem, i found a way around it by changing a seeting in the advanced options. somehow, my horizontral position was changed from wahtever the default was to 88, which set it too far to the left. set it back to 50 and while the image was good, the menu is still in the oddly placed area....oh well....hopefully it's not the bulb, i just changed the damn thing less than a year ago
