When things freeze up like this, usually a Firmware reload is the thing to attempt. You should have a disc with the player - follow the instructions carefully.

Hi again.
I'm not familiar with this model, so my comments are based partly on my own MP3 player.
First thing to try: does your player have a main on/off switch as well as a 'press' for on button? If so, try connecting it to your computer with the main switch in both positions.
(My player has a sliding main on/off switch, and then a press button on the front which turns it on, does 'play' and 'pause', and turns it off - with a long press).
When I connect it to the computer, the player is 'off' - ie: not running - but it'll only connect properly if the main sliding switch is first placed in the correct position - I can't remember if it's 'on' or 'off'! - and bizarrely it'll only charge from the computer with this switch in the opposite position. So, that's the first thing to try.
If no luck with this, it might be worth the Firmware reload. Your player should have come with a disc. On this should be various helpful progs and manuals, one of which is the Firmware. The 'firmware' is the actual software which operates your player and makes it work - without it your player is just an empty chip.
You first need to install this prog on your computer, then connect your player to it and follow the instructions carefully, step by step.
It'll wipe out everything that's already on your player, so transfer and save your music first if you don't already have a back-up copy.
If you don't have a disc, go on to the manufacturer's website, and look for 'support' - they should have it there.
