HP Officejet 4215 will not print

if you are using windows then go to control panel and go to printers(windows vista) or printers and faxes (windows xp) and then select the correct printer icon out of the two icons.. there will be two icons (for eg . officejet 4215 and officejet 4215 fax.. ) choose the one which doesnt says fax .

you need to install a driver compatable with vista.

have u gone on the HP web site and checked for updated software? I have 2 HP printers and both had issues, downloaded the newest software at HP site support and cured the problem.

If you do not have the disk you download software from Internet, follow instructions below,

A web page will open, follow instructions, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
Afterdownloading,findthefile,doubleclick on the file, if you get introubles ,thenfollowinstructionsbelowto reset and reinstall:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website and run the file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note some printer does not work on Vista.

The problem is with Windows Vista...it does not recognize the scan button when you touch it on the scanner. There are two ways around this:
Go to Programs / Windows Fax & Scan / Click new scan / click file and then click scan
OR
Go to Accessories / Paint / Cick File /click from scanner or camera / click scan

go to control panel, administrative tools, services, and turn it on.. hit start and set it to automatic.

Try this link. It is the full intall file for the all in one being run on a Vista Machine. It worked fine for my installation.

Muck around on the site for a bit, and you can also find the same install file for Windows XP.

You can download the software directly from the manufacturer and install it without the CD. Go to www.hp.com/, find and click Software & Driver Downloads, select Download drivers and software, type officejet 4215 in the box and press enter. Select which officejet matches yours: 4215, 4215v or 4215xi (you can find that info on a label attached around your printer. Sometimes the model is only described as CXXXXA format. If that is all you got, go back to the prior page and type that model instead of officejet 4215. You should reach a page where you select which operating system you are using, click on it and on the next page you can select which software you want to download. After saving your download, just open the program, follow the installation instructions and you should be ready to print in no time. Hope this helps.
