I set up my fax functionality on this machine (it scans, prints and faxes), but everytime I send a fax, it automatically goes to "auto redial" and never gets through. I have a dedicated fax line and it is set up to send and receive through that. I'm stymied.

Re: Can't use the fax on my Canon MP 530
There are 2 ports on the rear, 1 for the incomming phone line, and one to plug in a telephone handset (passthrough)
if the telephone line is plugged into the wrong port, the fax machine is unable to dial properly,
So try plugging into the other port on the back, it's just next to the other port
hope this helps

My incoming fax issue was resolved when I enabled the answering machine function on my phone. All this time my answering machine was turned off. I have yet to send a fax. My model is the Canon Pixma MX452.
Press function then data registration and set/ok.It will say user settings, press the arrow down to get report settings, press set/ok,it will say tx report press set/ok and use the arrows to get output yes, press set/ok and stop!It will print one after every fax u send!Enjoy!
I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I think that the fax not printing is Canon's new approach to kick out refills from their all in one machines. We cannot reset the ink level indicators on these cartridges and if people can no longer print faxes if their ink says it's low, then they can never use refills if they want to use their fax machine. I think it is also a way for Canon to make more money on their ink sales by making consumers buy new ink before theirs runs out. As far as I know there is no way to fix this problem.
There are 2 methods of sending 1. Through memory, in which the machine scans the document then sends when all pages have been scanned. 2. In real time, in which the document is placed in the ready mode and the line monitor or handset is used to dial the number. In this case the document is not scanned until a response is heard from the other machine.
However, in the case of the memory being full, either of documents in the queue or if there are documents waiting to be printed (because of no toner or no paper) then the machine will not allow sending from memory.
