97 chvy 5.0 -ECM B fuse blows - Wont Start - Replaced ALL parts

My 97 chevy was losing power while driving. It started only when taking off from a stop. It continued to get worse until it would die right after it started. I have replaced the Fuel Filter, Fuel Pump and pump harness connector,
Oil/ Fuel Pressure Switch and the Relay but my ECMB fuse blows every time the key is turned on.
After removing the Underhood Fuse Block I discovered the Red Wire coming off the Fuel Pump Relay is not connected to anything. It has a black connector plug on the end of it. Does anyone know where this plug goes?
We have traced all the wires and checked continuity. The Purple wire running from the tank shows a positive to ground? But all wires look good.
Any information would be helpful that might solve this issue.

Are you calling the ECM that main computer box? We thought that might be an issue and picked up one out of a wrecking yard. There was no difference after installing a different ECM. Still blowing the ECM B fuse.
One other thing we noticed was theblack wire on the wire harness inside the tank was burnt. The ground ******** the outside of the harness was not connected to anything. We did not see where the
ground wire on the outside of the tank was suppose to go. We made a place for the new ground strap to go.

That red wire is a test lead to jumper the fuel pump to test it.if ecmb fuse keeps blowing my guess is your ecm has a short in it,in that case it can be purchased at oreillys

What is the ecm fuse

ECM = Engine Control Module, Computer for short
If its blowing then there is a short in the system someplace, prolly a wire that has been wore bare and is grounding when it shouldnt.

Since they replaced the batt. check your terminal connections, it might have been tightened enough to drive it but now is lose, it takes more to start a vehicle than it does to run one.

The ECM could cause it to stall cause it controls electronics, but it could be the terminals being lose as well, your radio and lights will work beacuse they dont draw as much voltage so theres not as big of a need for a good connection, not that thats good but thats how it works.

97 jeep wrangler wont start

Lets start at the beginning.
Did you check the fuse circuit for the ECM to see if it has power ?
The problem could be the ASD relay which powers several circuits.

Do you have power at the fuel pump? When they go bad they like to blow the ECM B fuse, it's a 20a in the underhood box.
Otherwise is there any codes for the securtiy system?

I have a 97' f150 4.2 eng 2 wheel drive pickup elect. problem

A fuse blown is a short, and a short is a ahort.
The fuse is the ecm so unplug the ecm and see what happens. If the fuse holds with theecm unplugged, then it is your ecm that needs relacement. If it still blows, The short is in the wiring.go to the parts store and pick up and automatic circuit breaker. It plugs in where the bad fuse goes. It will trip and reset itself automaticallly like a flasher until you have located the short. trick, Start with a breaker of amp. examole; if you took out a 20 amp, put in a 10 amp so the breaker trips faster, On and off quicker so you don't have to wait between ressets. If you want to trace the short by the wiring, put a 25 amp or with great caution a 30 amp. That is the limit. The wire will get warm on the 25 and even warmer on the 30. Pay attention that the wire does not get hot. Hopefully yhe 25 will get the wire warm enough for you to follow. Good Luck, Ned. This method is dangerous if you don't pay very close attention using the high amp breaker. There is a risk of fire if the circuit cannot handle 30 amps. In fact, only yuse the 30 amp breaker if the 25 breaks and resets too fast. Good Luck_Ned_
