Hi, I need to set the low battery alarm for my note book. It slider does not come below 40% I need to set low battery alarm at 10%. but it does not come below 40%. Its same for low battery alarm and critical battery alarm.
Hi there hopefully this is slightly more useful to you. Being a HP its possible that the laptop has built in HP Power management software that overules the windows power management. Try looking in the control panel for it, if not maybe the utility is in Start- All Programs

Have you gone to control panel page? energy management systems? if there you cannot change maybe you also can change it on bios because some laptops also have this options in bios

Installation
1* Remove unit and all packing materials from the carton. You should save packing
materials in case unit needs to be returned for service. If you do not wish to save the
materials, please dispose of them properly.
2* Place the unit on a stable, level surface, close to an AC outlet, out of direct sunlight,
and away from sources of dust, dirt, heat, water, moisture, vibration, or magnetic fields.
3* After installing the batteries (see below) and reading the Maintenance notes, plug the
AC cord into an outlet.
"Sure Alarm" Battery Backup Installation
It is strongly recommended that 2 "AA" batteries be installed into the unit, as directed below,
in order to activate this product's "Sure Alarm" Battery Backup feature. (The model should
come with two batteries already installed.) In the event that the AC power cord is disconnected
or a power failure or other interruption occurs, the "Sure Alarm" Battery Backup will maintain
clock and alarm settings for the life of the battery, ensuring that the alarm (buzzer only) will
sound at the set time. During any interruptions the time and alarm settings will be saved
and automatically restored when AC power is again active.
1* Gently turn the unit over and remove the battery
compartment door.
2. Install 2 "AA" batteries (alkaline is recommended for
longer life), while making sure that the + and - ends
match up with those inside the battery compartment.
3* Slide the battery compartment door back on, making
sure the door locks into place, and gently return the
unit to its upright position.

I have checked there is no option in BIOS which can be related to power management.
Yeh there is no such option where I can change such power management related settings. I have these features only in windows.
there is only one method you know Control Panel > Power Options then under Alarm Tab you can change these settings .. but in my case when I need to change the low battery alarm and move the slider to 10% and as I leave my mouse button it again jumped to 40%. i have tried many times it is sticky to 40%.
I am not getting your point, please let me know that is there any solution to this problem ?
I will be very thank full to you.
Yeh I removed the battery and tried to set up the alarms, bu the same was the case when laptop was on direct power supply and battery was not there.
