We've been using this monitor for over 1 year with no issues. Today the video disappeared. We get only a White screen for a few seconds when the monitor is plugged in and turned on (which is telling me that it's getting power) but then it goes to a Black screen.
I've plugged in an older monitor (Dell) and it works great.
The NEC LCD1715 has a menu button (does nothing when pushed) and it has an + / AUTO button which also does nothing when pushed.
Help Please.
Thank you,
Rob

This monitor is going into the protection mode due to a component failure. The unit should be sent or taken in to a service center for testing and repair. The NEC customer support telephone number is 1-800-632-4662. The website for customer support is www.necdisplay.com/support center. They will be able to tell you where you can take you monitor for servicing. I hope this information helps you with you problem

The power supply section may be failed, or there may be a short on one of the boards causing the monitor to cycle through the protect mode.

This is the common bad capacitor problem. The caps have died inside, and they can be replaced. If you have basic electronics skills, you can go in, order replacement caps, and unsolder and resolder. If you can't do it yourself, you can take it into a shop.
Here is a link to the Cap plague that explains what happens in detail. But I repair these all the time with that symptom.

I got a similar problem with my NEC 2080UXi. The power led indicator is lit as soon as I plug in power. No back light ever comes on. Capacitors appear to be fine. I did notice that a resistor did burn up and appears to be a small wattage from size of the leads. Does anyone know what resistance R915 is? It's located under the middle heat sink on the power supply board (the brown coloured board).
This may be the solution.

After the (MAC) computer is on for a few hours my NEC Multisync LCD 1765 moniter will on occasion go completely white. The cables are tightly connected. There is no arrow curser, no desktop icons, just a white screen. Turning off the computer and taking a break (eg. for lunch) and then turning the computer back on will usually fix the problem, but this intermittant area of concern is now happening on almost a daily basis. Can somebody please help?
