Battery How to go too the battery on Fat Boy 1999

The battery on your fatboy is certainly dead and needs a replacement, if the issue is with the wiring it wouldn't have started anyways so the battery is the culpri.

If it is carburetted you may have had fuel dry up and contaminate, plug carburetor jets etc. IN any case even if EFI the fuel is likely stale and you need to drain the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel. Did you have your mufflers plugged or did rodents get into them and build nests?? Is you battery dead. Re charge it to hold at least 12.6VDC and have it load tested. If you did not have it on a battery maintainer it is likely shot. Does it do anything, any lighting on, any click when you try to start it etc. POST a lot more information if you wantmore definitive assisatnce etc.

you may need a new wiring harness

You can connect the positive clamp of your battery charger to the starter connection. The positive cable of the battery connects to the starter solenoid. Then the other side of the solenoid connects to the starter motor. Connect the positive clamp of the charger to the connection where the battery cable connects to the solenoid. Connect the negative clamp to the engine or frame.

I doubt it. The Fat Boy is a member of the Softail family. In 1999, the Softails were running Evolution engines. They didnt' go to the TC-88B engine until 2000 and that required a frame change. I don't think it will fit but you never really know until you try it.

Go to the dealership and get the HD factory battery for that model I personally wouldnt run anything but HD batteries they may cost a little more but in the long run are definately worth it.

Low battery or dirty wire (loose) connections.Carge or replace battery clean or replace dammaged wire cables and their end connectors.

check wiring loom for brakes ,First test horn by connecting directly to battery .You need only one wire .Attach one terminal of the horn to -- negative post and with a lengh of wire attached to the other terminal of horn flask across the positive pole .if the horn is ok it will sound off .If this is all ok then you need to trace the horn wiring for breakages or the horn button itself may be corroded and not making a good .contact .

Its under the seat, all u have to do is remove the seat, remove the negative connection at the frame and the positive at the terminal, unlatch the battery strap and lift it out
