First thing if you are able is to unplug set and remove rear cover (lay set face down on a padded surface).

entire main board should be able to be seen or released so it slides out--take a very careful look at flyback and rest of board for any cracked or bad solder connections.

One bad connection (age) can cause this.

I have the same problem. Do not have any idea on how to fix it without probable major expense. I have to connect cable box to RCA inputs which require the dvd player to connect with the front inputs...very inconvenient! Hope someone has an answer to this problem.

What I can think of is either the main filter capacitor is dried up, I had a set that would stay powered on til it warmed up then shut off and the main filter cap was the problem. Or the tv could have a thermally induced shut down, or the circuit protection kicks in due to excessive voltage. A component is defective and excess voltage is happening and the tv shuts down to prevent excessive X-ray emissions or damage to other components. You should open up the tv, be very careful and if you don't feel comfortable, have someone with more experiance or a shop look at it. Look for any blown or burnt components. Also listen for any weird or funny noises inside the set.

You may also have a capacitor that is going bad or is on the verge of going poof. Anyhow, check for any leakage on the PCB and if you have a capacitor checker check all the caps. Visual inspection may find it as well...Good luck technician. GURU JAY

Yuor TV has an issue particularly in the power supply section with regards to the loose components. This issue can be best addressed by having your units' circuitry be resoldered before it could damage some parts.
