It is written in the Manual:

If the amount of background toner shading becomes unacceptable, the procedures described below may help to clear the condition:

* Increase the density setting. This will decrease the amount of background shading.
* Change the paper to a lighter basis weight.
* Check the printer's environment' very dry (ow humidity) conditions can increase the amount of background shading.
*Replace the toner cartridge.
*Replace the transfer roller

i hope it can help.

    Sir/Madam

If you have Brother Printer print quality problems, Then I suggest You clean the Your Brother printer drum unit as follows:

Small Spots on the printed pages:

If your printed document has any small white or colored spots, follow the steps below.

1.Open the manual feed slot cover.

    2. Using both hands, slide the manual feed slot paper guides to the width of the paper that you are going to use.

    3c58990a-a64f-467e-80f1-d002cea26746.gif

3.Using both hands, put one blank sheet of paper in the manual feed slot until the front edge of the paper touches the paper feed roller. Wait until the machine automatically feeds the paper. When you feel the machine pull in the paper, let go.

    Note
    • Make sure that the paper is straight and in the correct position on the manual feed slot. If it is not, the paper may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam.
    • Do not put more than one piece of paper in the manual feed slot at any one time, as it may cause a jam.
    • Do not put paper in the manual feed slot before the printer is in the Ready state. An error may occur and the printer will stop printing.

4.Make sure that the printer is in the Ready state. Press + or - to choose "Color Correction". Press OK.

5.Press + or - to choose "Drum Cleaning".

6.Press Go. The printer will pull in the piece of paper and start cleaning the drum unit.

7.When the printer has finished cleaning, "Completed" appears on the LCD.
Press Cancel so that the printer returns to the Ready state.

8.Repeat steps 3 to 7 two more times using a new blank sheet of paper each time. Upon completion, please discard the used paper. If the print problem still remains, please go to the Step 9.

Large spots on the printed pages:
Hint If your printed page has colored spots at 94mm (3.7 in) intervals, please follow the step below.
    1. 9.Turn off the printer power switch.

    caa08e02-67b8-4b61-b1fd-f671f7a5511b.gif

    10. Fully open the top cover by lifting up on the handle (1).

    51223372-6d42-4884-a45a-5442dfcea382.gif

    11. See the print sample to identify the color causing the problem. The color of the spots is the color of the drum you should clean. For example, if the spots are cyan, you should clean the drum for cyan. Take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly of the color causing the problem.

    Caution
    • We recommend that you place the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a sheet of disposable paper or cloth underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.
    • To prevent damage to the printer from static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration.

12.Push down the green-labeled lock lever (1) and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.

    Caution
    1. Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once.

Black smudges down left side of page

How do I clean white or black spots on printed documents? Description: First make 10 to 15 copies of a blank, white sheet of paper.
If you still see the spots on printed documents after making multiple copies, clean the drum unit as follows:

  1. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly, and then remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit.
  2. Position the print sample in front of the drum unit so you will know the exact position on the drum that is causing the poor print.
  3. all-ug-19.gif
  4. Turn the black gear on the drum as you check the surface of the OPC drum.
The OPC drum is photosensitive so do not touch it with your fingers.
  5. all-ug-20.gif
  6. When you find the substance on the drum surface that matches the print sample, gently dab the surface of the OPC drum with a cotton swab that is lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
  7. Note
      • Do not use a scrubbing or wiping motion because this might damage the drum.
        all-ug-21.gif
      • Do not try to clean the surface of the OPC drum with a sharp object, such as a ball-point pen, because this might cause permanent damage to the drum unit.
  8. If the print quality still has not improved you need to install a new drum.

I loaded a lined sheet of notebook paper into our printer tray to have something print on it. It came up with the message that there was a paper jam and to remove the paper tray and toner cartridge. I...

The only way a paper jam could affect your print quality is if it were actually stuck in the toner/drum cartridge area. I would remove the drum unit and then take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit and make sure there is no paper in either of the 2 units. The only other possibility would be that the sheet of paper wrapped around the fuser roller. This is the area just before the paper exits the machine. This would usually cause the print/toner on the copy to rub off or not be fully "fused" onto the page.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Print quality is poor. I hace cleaned corona wire and poblem is still there. Entire page is streaked with black. White paper comes out gray. What else can I do? Should I change the toner cartridge?

If you have a old drum or old toner cartridge switch them and see if it goes away. Other wise start with a new toner cartridge. I sell them for 40.00 and the drum for 60.00. Steven 818-888-0006

HPlaserjet P1006 Series When printing getting a white blank streak down the middle of the page

To isolate the problem you need to do a 'half test'. This involves printing and stopping paper half way through the printer. This can be done by opening the toner door at the appropriate time. The paper should have just entered the fuser (watch out, the fuser is HOT). You should see the paper with the printing on it after removing the toner cartridge. Carefully turn the toner cartridge over and move back the door that covers the drum. DO NOT TOUCH THE DRUM. If there is the corresponding blank spot in the center of the drum, like the paper, the scanner is dirty or blocked. A can of compressed air will help here. If you have access to a different toner cartridge, you may want to try that first.

Unwanted gray stripes on paper

Printer needs a good clean and service.
Toner particles have probably split onto the fuser drum or has been contaminated by previously printed paper losing some toner.
As the particles get re-heated, they become waxy and smear around the drums and rollers.
For stripping and cleaning procedure, check the FIXYA manuals and tips, searching for your model, or similar one, or try a manuals download website and enter your make & model.
HP may also have the info.
You'll probably need a service manual rather than the user manual.

White paper no longer white

You are probably getting low on toner. Your printer also might just need a little cleaning. I would open up the front of the printer and take out the toner/drum. Wipe off the edge of the toner cartridge with a dry cloth to remove excess toner. Replace the toner cartridge and see if this works!
