Frigidaire upright freezer and frig with freezer on top
I had a power failure. Bought dry ice. Put 1 10lb block in frig and 1 10lb block in freezer. Power came back on while I was not home. Frig/freezer shut down, presumably because it got too cold. Has not come back on since it got too cold. Does anyone have a solution? Larry
It might have low volatge to compressor and burned out overload try unplugging it again wait a few hours and plug it back in it might start working good luck if it doesnt try replacing relay overload compasator they sell a kit called a 3 n 1 start kit

Check the rear is clean and clear. The condenser should be warm, not hot. If it cools down towards the end of the rungs and the last bit is cold. suspect short of gas. Further check any fans etc and remove any excess ice, and make sure the door seals ok.
You need to remember heat rises and cold air falls. The best way to load a freezer is to put meats on the bottom. They take alot longer to freeze and thaw and can save your stock if you have a power failure. Keep non-critical things like ice cream, ice, and other thing towards the top for quicker access.
Try this... unplug...
take everything out and defrost the freezer
(go get a couple bags of ice and a big clean garbage can so you can keep the food cold)
you can defrost the freezer faster with a hair dryer
when you finish turn t'stat to high setting... put all food back in and dont overload and dont block any air vents (if they are located at top dont overlaod)
plugg in wait 24 hrs...
if you dont notice a difference let me know...
Dispose of the unit and buy a new one. If it leaked the refrigerant out you have to fix the leak before charging it again. The chances of finding the leak are slim.
Hi, look inside freezer and see if there is a frost build up on the rear wall. Also listen to see if the evapotator fan motor is running. Please let me know so I can assist you further.
it sound like your unit has a bad sensor on it or a leak. you should never have to add refrigerant to a unit unless theres a leak then it has to be repaired firdt the recharged.
pat, this is tom.if your box temps are fine.then you have a blocked defrost drain.[if temps bad ,will condensate in fresh food because warm temps]couple ways one is to shut box down eight hours other is to remove the back frezer panel and clean out all that ice and clear drain.you can use blow dry to melt ice[watch water and electricty do mix at all,be carefil]once ice gone use weed eater line with nott in one end to push threw and come out ouher end and cleanin His name, tom
