The best thing to do is to download the updated drivers from support.dell.com. When you go to that webpage there is an image link there that would say driver downloads. just click that and it would ask if you would like to enter your service tag or if you want to just choose the system model. one you have entered. choose the appropriate operating system and click on the plus sign right beside the audio item. There you will be able to find the sigmatel driver for your audio.

you can get an adapter that will allow you to connect your laptop hd to another pc through the usb port. Your hard drive is probably SATA so you would need a SATA to USB adapter cable.
