Hello. I have a GSA-4120B (D:drive) on my computer. When I put a movie disc in to watch or a blank disc to burn the drive doesn't even recognize that it's a disc in the drive at all. I don't have that problem with my E drive at all. I've had the computer for 3 years and didn't even know the whole time that the DVD drive didn't work. I purchased it from Gateway 3 years ago and everything on it was factory installed. I don't understand why it's not working. In Device Manager...it says that the device is working properly. I even tried switching the D drive to slave and that didn't work either. I really don't want to buy another DVD Burner. I spent almost $1,300 on this computer. I called Gateway Tech Support and he told me that since it's not under warranty anymore that I should just take it to a PC repair tech or buy a new one...like hell. I've done everything I can possibly think of to do to fix it. My brother says I probably just need to clean the lens. But if I buy a DVD cleaner the darn D drive can't even read it so it can perform the clean. Please Help Me. I have been sitting here tampering with this computer for the last 7 hours and no one can tell me anything. Please help. P.S. I have a Gateway 552GE series computer.
Here's how, you have to oppen that computer, take that cd drive out, dismantle it, and personally clean the lens, duat must have collected on the lens for the long years of not usin it, if you are currently online we'll do the dismantling and cleaning together, contact me e-mail: [email protected] mobile phone: +639152192626.

My 4120B DVD burner used to read & write to DVDs fine, but now it does not recognize DVDs. It can still write CDs, which is confusing to me. It's in a Gateway 554GE.
