Why is my PS# freezing after 15 minutes when I play a Blu Ray or PS3 game but not when I play PS2 games?
Hi the ps3 and bluray disks make the ps3's gpu work a lot harder and this causes more heat on the gpu chip and this is whats causing you the problem you are getting, now it could just be that you need a new bluray drive fitted, check if you have any warranty left before you get any work done as these faults are covered by warranty for up to 3 years so have a look on the sony webiste and check what warranty they offer, if you have no warranty then your going to need to pay to get it fixed if it is just a case of changing the dvd drive then this wont cost much and is something you could do yourself if you get a repair guide off line and look into how you change the whole dvd drive as it will require software changing so the new drive is accepted, hopefully you only need a new drive but you wont know until after a new drive has been fitted, if you still have the fault after the new drive has fitted then this points towards over heating and if this is the case then you could have problems as this will cost a lot more to have done as it requires the whole ps3 being apart and the gpu's solder reflowing and new heat sink paste fitting, this is a big job and not something you can do yourself.
i hope i have given you some idea of what the fault is and what to expect.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks
