Dvd rom drive is not working at all help!

There is a small pin whole where the dvd drive is push it in and it should come out. Nice Posting it 5 times! I guess I'll post it 5 times.

Hi,
For that problem, Try first replace that internal DVD-rom drive other good internal DVD-rom drive. if not Also Detected or recognize.
Try this second solution. insert external USB type DVD-ROM. if not recognize also, Your operating system Have internal software device data corrupted. You need to reinstall operating System like windows xp, windows 7 (OS) etc.. to fix data Corrupted of operating system device for hardware software.
Please see sample external DVD-rom USB type.

MY ROM is a Sony (DDU1632C1) Internal DVD Drive. It doesn't read the DVDs and the CDs. I checked the data cable from the mother board and the power cable, cables worked for my CD rom but not the DVD/CD...
Check On the Back Off Your DVD-Rom itself look little pin with a black connector like a mini bridge... Look if it on position Master If So change your little connector to Slave Position.. The Restart your PC... Check also your IDE Cable for defect and all the pin inside your DVD connection ...Good Luck

it is beacuse the power suply of dvd drive is good and the data supply is not connected..
take ur lappie to the acer's store to fix it
if u can open the outer cover of the laptop then open it and fix the cable of dvd drive

Try borrowing a compatible HDD instead of buying a third one for testing and check if the same error exists. Try also using an external DVD drive to see if your internal CD-ROM is defective. Try also using another Windows XP CD installer. You can also use other OS installation CD to check it. Otherwise, there is something wrong with your lappy's motherboard due to tear and wear, heat, vibration, misuse and shock.
