I can't get the stains on my refridgerator door handle? An orange color will not come off. My fridge is not next to the stove where grease can build up. It's like a discoloration on the handle. I've tried evrything that I know of.
We found a brillant person who posted the perfect solution on a blog and just tried it this weekend. The plastic composite on the handles is not UV protected plastic, so it yellows or turns brown over time. You can't clean it, as it's a defect due to light exposure. We downloaded a diagram of our fridge and learned how to take off the handles. The top and bottom white portions pop off, but be careful when doing so. We gently lifted them off the metal backing and put a butter knife underneath so we would not damage the plastic. You can then see the clips that hold them in place. Gently pry them and they will pop out. You have to remove the top and bottom pieces first then it will expose the screws that hold the handles in place. You need a star type screwdriver-we found one at Home Depot. The metal strip is a simple backing and will just stay in place. Now, the key is the Krylon Fusion paint-Satin White. It's for plastic. Clean off the handles and make sure they are dry. Tape off the portions you don't want paint on and spray them outside with the paint. It dries quickly, but we waited about 8 hrs to put them back on. Just put them back on with the handles first and then the top and bottom portions-they cover the screws. Ours now look brand new! Cost? Only $6.50 for the can of paint and we got it at Walmart. If we had to replace them w/new handles? About $175. Thank you to whomever it was that shared this idea. It really works.
I am not sure about the handles-- but I know of a site that offers covers for your appliances. I love the options. They even have stainless steel.

The handles on the doors of my white side-by-side GE refrigerator/freezer have yellowed. The fridge is about 9 years old. The rest of the fridge remains white. My neighbor had the same problem with hers. Can't find anything to bring the handles back to white.
I have the same problem! Although it's just the upper and lower parts of the handles. The part you grab to open is still bright and white. Any suggestions???
