Question about Jl Audio 250/1 Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Jl amp i have a 250/1 monoblock amp. when i hook it up to my jl 10" subs and turn the power or the volume up, it turns the power off for about a second and then the amp comes back on. it seems to trip off like a relay is over heating or something. if the volume is low or the gain is turned way down, it won't shut off. i also tried another amp on this same system and it works fine turned up the whole way.any help would be great.

Jl 1000.1 Bottoming out my sub at very low volume...i have a 1000d cross fire mono block that POUNDS my sub and doesnt bottom it out.. but when i hook up the JL i get to quarter volume and the sub starts...

Check The Settings On The Amp.... There Is Probably a Setting Turned All The Way To Max on it. Is There 2 Rca Cables Hooked to It ? Try Switching them around And Seeing if It Gets Better Or Un Plug one of them And See if It Gets Any Better, Would Definitely Check The Settings On The Amp First to See if That your Problem. Hope This Helps :-)

Shuts off when the volume gets turned up didnt do this wen new

A mono amp usually can handle only two 4 ohm subs. You see when you hook up two subs in parallel it drops the ohms too 2 ohms and 3 in parellal drops it to 1 ohms overheating the amp and cause power failure. Unless you bought a Mono amp thats 1ohm stable. But still I've seen cheap 1 ohm stable amps not last long. Also possible your subs are fried too check them with a multimeter and measure each sub ohms.

1 10 jl jl 250/1 mono block amp cuts off an on help

your subwoofer is wired incorrectly to your amplifier. Figure out which ohm load of subs you have and then what ohm load options your amp is stable at. Next go to either the Crutchfield website. find their learning center. go to subwoofer wiring diagrams. or go to www.the12volt.com and find their section on it

Popping sound! please help - jl 500/1 and two jl w3v3 2ohm subs

no connection are good + to + -to - thats all that matters. either the speakers are blown or you need a stronger amp. since you already tried speakers probably need bigger amp. definitley not the box. no such thing as a break in period, are the subs 10 12 inch or what. you could try to bridge them too that means hook both up to the same +-terminals, 2 wires per screw. it usually isnt the way they hook them up, its the wires fuses etc that cause problems. what guage wires is the speaker wire, the power line etc. if you give me these guages i might be able to get somewere

I bought a 500/1 jl audio amp and also a w7 10 sub

if its cutting off and right back on then check your ground and your power wire makes sure both are connected good and none of your fuse's are blown, either that or you got a wire hooked up backwards in the sub.. but my guess is that the sub is hooked up wrong... that sub should be hooked up in a series or in parallel,

ok if your running just one speaker, it should be hooked up like this and 2 speakers are a different way...

this is parallel :pos to pos , neg to neg, then one wire coming from pos on sub to pos on amp then neg on sub to neg on amp but bridge the amp on your amp should be 2 pos and 2 neg in two different channels take the pos off the sub into the pos on 1 channel and then the neg from sub to the neg on the other channel,

this is series : on the sub it will go pos to neg then the other neg and pos will go to the amp, but make sure the pos and neg r on different sides of the sub, dont hook them both to the same coil

if your need more help give me your email and ill send you a pic of how to do it...

Jl amp

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead to the B+ terminal of the amp. If the voltage drops below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring for the B+ line to see where you're losing voltage..

You need to do this as the amp shuts down. Connect the meter and watch the voltage as someone increases the volume.
