Here is some wisdom for understanding F1 fault codes.
In some models, there are subcodes that make diagnosis even easier.
Here's a simple explanation of what's going on and how to troubleshoot:
The F1 code indicates that:
a. The electronic range control (ERC) is sensing heat in the oven when in a time-of-day (i.e., not cooking) mode.
b. The ERC is receiving information to run multiple heat functions simultaneously.
Although different components (depending upon the model) could generate the code, simple and straightforward testing using your ohm meter is all you gotta do to test for it.
1. Check the oven temperature sensor. The oven sensor has to be within spec or it will cause the F1 code.
As an example of being out-of-spec, the ERC will generate an F1 fault code when the sensor shows 1650 ohms during a time-of-day mode.
This is equivalent to 350°F in the oven.
The resistance isn't high enough to generate an F2 code (runaway temp) or an F3 or F4 code (shorted/open sensor circuit).
The ERC monitors the sensor circuit after a heat cycle and expects the resistance to drop back to 1050-1100 ohms.
The fault code is generated when this doesn't happen. Checking the sensor circuit means also checking the harness,
harness connections and the sensor itself.
2. If the oven sensor circuit checks okay, then turn your inquisitive eyeballs to the touchpad.
If the range has a separate touchpad/keyboard, the keypad may have moisture that is shorting several circuits simultaneously.
If the F1 code is given immediately (instead of during or after a heat cycle),
remove the ribbon connector from the touchpad to the ERC after clearing the F1 code. If the F1 code does not return in five minutes,
then cast a suspicious gaze upon the touchpad/keyboard. Shorts may be caused by using an ammonia-based glass cleaner.
The touchpad surface will absorb ammonia-based cleaners that are sprayed directly on the glass surface. When heat is applied,
the surface material can break down causing shorts.
If you're gonna use ammonia-based cleaners on your control panel, then you should spray it on the rag and then wipe the touchpanel
-don't spray directly onto the surface of the touchpad.
3. On Amana ranges with a rotary temperature dial, be sure that the knob is in the OFF position when performing tests.
4. If these tests all check good, then replace the ERC.

Awhile after I reset the clock on my double Kenmore oven it started beeping and displayed a F1 on the board. The only way to stop the beeping was to turn the oven on and leave it on or turn the electricity off. The oven is 14 years old and I don't think it's worth putting alot of money into it. Thanks
i woke up in the middle of the night and my oven was beeping and displayed F1 on the window and now i cant stop it help
I have a GE stove single oven and it also keeps beeping and is showing F1. Only way to stop beeping is by unplugging it.
As soon as I turn my old Kenmore double oven to heat about 30 seconds later it starts beeping and says F1. Is there a solution to this? We don't have a troubleshooting manual so it must be simple...Thanks!
Oven started beeping with F1 displayed. It won't stop. We have a Kenmore Ge Profile Electric Range about 14 years old. Model #JBP80GS1BB. We unplugged it. What now?
F1 error. oven won't turn off broiler
After I turn off the oven, shortly after the F1 shows up at the panel and It keep beeping?
We have a Jenn-Air JW8330 series built-in oven about 12 years old . F1 appears an hour or so after cooking and beeping will not stop. My repairman says needs a new clock & circuit board kit about $325.00.+ labor. This sounds a bit pricey. Right now we either turn off at breaker or cook something. Do I replace or repair at this price. comments please.

We have the same problem. Â Glad GE is getting out of the appliance business. Â Now I'm hoping I can find something that fits the hole in the wall.
i have an E 1 F 1 code
conteual F1 on a kenmore built by ropper it will not reset
We had the same problem -- the F1 light would come on and the beeping would happen most times that we used the convection oven. We replaced the control board ourselves, ordering a new one and doing our own installation. Guess what? The new board displays F1 and beeps incessantly every time that we use the oven. When it is cleared it starts beeping again. Sometimes it has to be cleared 2 or 3 times before it stops. Very frustrating.
fridgidare self cleaning electric oven says F1. OK its the " clock timer" If I buy the part and replace it myself will my oven be OK. Can I use the oven while its beeping or use the stove?
I am hungry
