All lites @ meters all work
Try a different mic, they CAN cause no sound (receive), and no talking. If that isn't the issue, I'd go to my coax cable, even though they don't look broken doesn't mean that they aren't. I've seen quite a few brand new ones that are bad right out of the box. If all of that checks out I'd grab an SWR/power meter and do a check to see if the radio was registering on the inline meter. I'd say use the one on the radio, but I'd like to see it on the inline so you can really tell whats going on with the radio. I think I'd also get a spare radio, or a friends, and put it in my vehicle and see if it gets out. That would be the best way to check your coax and antenna setup. Aside from that, which is just simple cb logic, I'd say you may possibly have to bring the radio to a tech and have them check it out. I have a DX-959 and a DX-99V and I gotta say, knock on wood, no issues with either one. I really hoped that helped and let me know how things turn out. Its always good to hear from people after they figure out what was wrong, that way we all learn...
I have a Galazy DX 959 as well. I had the same problem where I would turn on the radio and I had no sound or could I talk. I checked the cable, changed antenna, changed antenna locations, coax, you name it. I changed out the radio and that one had no problems. So I took my radio back and had to exchange it. It was weird. It worked for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden it didn't want to work anymore.
Make sur that the radio is on cb and not pa
