Question about Brother MFC 420CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Help...asap...please I can't get a new cartridge today, and I have to finish printing this document. the brother site says that in order for the message to go away, I have to replace cartridge, even though there is still ink in it. "What a waste"!!! I have some ink refillers, but they suggest not doing that, so do you know how I get the message away, so that I can continue printing?

I installed a new cartridge ib my Brother GX 6750 and it is not printing..The keys are working fine however it is not hitting the tape to print.

Hi!
Neat little typewriter.

Think back, and reverse the steps.
Before you removed the finished ribbon, you had to pull on a little lever that is next to the printhead, right?

Now that you inserted the new ribbon, you must push that same lever towards the platen, away from you, in order to lock it back in the normal printing position.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish.

My MFC665CW will not print in black. It does

The printheads go bad on these, when several cleanings don't help, you need a new printhead. the price is more than a new machine since they sell the new mfc490 for about $120.00 and the printhead alone to repair yours is $179.00 from Brother...

Trouble with my epson stylus c45 printer. PLEASE HELP!?

this is usually caused by clogged print heads, unfortunately epson is still one of few brands that still manufactures most of their printers with the heads built into the machine and thus upon print head clogging the printer must be taken in to be serviced or buy a new printer that does not have the print heads built in but rather built into the ink cartridges. hope this helps.

Brother DCP-145C Print in black and white..?

As far as i know it will not work for color print unless all the cartridges are full. It will still print in b&w- go to properties of your printing document and change to "greystyle" but this will only work if you don't/have not turned off the machine at the power point. Once the machine is reset it wants to confirm all new cartridges and wont allow a black print until they are all in and full. So you cant use cartridges that have run out to "trick it".
I'm not sure if this is the intent of brother ( my guess is yes) a design oversight or a genuine precaution measure for consistency by not letting the printing heads dry out.
The yellow always runs out first, so stock up on them if you do alot of color printing- but the cartridges only last for 6 months so don't go crazy.

Brother if your reading this- Most of us don't care about color~! We just need a printer for uni and information. Make it work on our price range please!

Can't print

Ok, if your brother has four cartridges then I'll assume you have black ink available. There should be a printer setting to print in black only, especially if your trying to print a colored document. If your brother only has three cartridges then cyan is necessary to form black; you will have to buy a replacement cartridge.

"no catridge" not true

Drill a 2 - 3 mm hole into the brother label upon the carts. Refill the cart which the printers display shows EMPTY. For color C/Y/M refill a 12ml and for black a 20ml ink. Use only dye ink! See pictures how to do that: http://www.hstt.net/refill-faq/brother.html#LC-900 Refillen

Error message "no cartridge" won't go away on my brother mfc 420cn printer

Sorry i couldn't help on the day you nedded it. Do not be afraid to refill, it's easy once you have a go, all instructions come with the refill kits, and they instuct on your specific printer too. Follow it to the T and you can refil one colour or all, and no waste. Once refilled, replace it, reset ink levels, and try printing again. Good luck.

Printer not printing

Unfortunately, like most multi cartridge ink jet printers when one ink is empty the printer will cease printing regardless of whether you just want to print in black and white and you have plenty of black ink left. I have heard of people tricking the printer into believing the cartridge is full by placing coloured tape etc in front of the ink sensing device but I am not sure how the Brother senses the ink levels as i have some aftermarket ink cartridges for mine which seem to be completely non-opaque (unlike the originals). The need to have colour cartridges in even if you only ever print with black ink is good news for Brother as the MFC-210c uses a large amount of ink during it's routine cleaning cycles (that you cant stop) and will empty all 3 cartridges in under 6 months without ever printer a single drop of colour ink. Sorry about all the bad news, at least your not alone......
