Touch screen cracked and does not respond to touch. Where Ican buy touch screen, and how much does it cost.
Same problem, crack from edge. ordered from sony for $70+shipping. no service from sony. I'll try to fix it myself and will not buy any sony for the next 2 years. ( there is no time beyond 2012).
If you have succeeded, please share your experience. Mine is U83T, should be similar.

The only solution is to replace the screen with the Sony part at $76. Replacement is a delicate process and you will need patience and a steady hand. The trickiest part is removing the bezel which is a mater of rmoving the 4 scews and then very carefully prying the body away from the bezel woring around the unit as you go. You will also need to disconnect a number of tiny electircal conectors so keep track of what you do and which side goes where. This Sony unit is worth reparing because it has such a nice screen and user interface.

I have the same problem. I called Sony Support and a new Touchscreen digitizer (the touch-sensitive glass pane that sits on top of the LCD screen) costs about $76. That's just for the part. Haven't been able to find another solution. I took the liberty of taking my unit apart and taking out the shattered screen, now all I need is a replacement, but Sony's is too expensive for me. Maybe it will work for you though
