Install the latest audio driver for your computer you can download it in support.dell.com. input your service tag then download your driver install it, make sure you input the right operating system,..after installing it restart the computer,. it that doesn't work. try to check the device manager if the audio driver is detected if not ,, try to do system restore and set it back to the last day it was working, (depends on the restore point)
So if all of that doesn't work and you still have the "X"over it you'll need to replace that internal speakers.
Check in your device manager to see if your USB bridge or hub is working properly. If the driver for the hub goes out you can't connect any USB devices. Right click on my computer, goto properties, hardware then device manager. Will be listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers. If there is a problem there will be a red X on the device icon.
