How to turn off subtitles without the remote control?

To be able to access the subtitles, there should be subtitles in the first place. And if there is a dedicated button to switch them on and of, why not try all the buttons you don't know where they are for?
There are not that many on you remote.

Have you read the manual for the device that is posting the subtitles?
It could be controlled by SAT or Cable boxes or you TV or even VCR if you have one connected. You should be able to control each device without using the remote but this will require you to actually walk over to the device and look at the buttons that are available to you.

Most likely you need to enter the menus of these devices and navigate to the subtitles section to turn it off directly.
Try changing your batteries in your remote also to see if it works better.

Kindly tell him to push the D.SUB button underneath the yellow button, that is if he is on DVD mode. If that one won't work, you may ask him to push the third button from the left hand side of his remote control.

Turning off subtitles will not work for some programs as other broadcasting networks placed restrictions that you cannot turn on/off subtitles using your remote control.

If you already name the subtitle file (.srt) with the same name of movie file (avi, mpeg, mkv etc) all you have to do is press green button on the remote control the turn on/off the subtitle. It works for me.

I have the same problem.

Should be under the menu/setup button on remote under close caption.
