My Sony Trinitron doesnt turn on. It seems like it is trying to start but no picture. The read blinking lights are four times each. Please let me know [email protected] .Thanks for your help.
Hi, The blinking lights is an indicator of an internal fault. On some Sony sets, 4 blinks indicate a problem where the video is muted due to a component fault. Since this involve opening the set and doing electronics diagnosis and possibly component/board replacement, you may be better off seeking the services of a qualified TV repair professional. Hope this be of assistance/idea. Post back should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Hi again,
Though I am of the opinion that you best leave it to a qualified TV serviceman, I am posting the information leaving it to you to use as you see it fit.
It may be to your advantage to get hold of a schematic and/or service manual. Further the usual precaution applies to working with electrical and HV equipment. On opening the unit, do an ocular inspection, look for the obvious, burnt/scorching marks, cracked components, swollen/burst capacitors etc.
The 4 blinks only goes so far as to tell us where to start, video blanking/muting. This is often caused by a failure in the vertical section - either the output IC (IC1509?) (?LA78045?) or the Vertical Pulse Buffer transistor Q1505? (2SC3311A?). NOTE: Failure in the horizontal/HV will also result in no Vertical B+ supply therefore a virtual vertical failure. The "?" refers to actual component number in some versions/models and may differ from what is in your set.
It is not a 100% guarantee that replacing the vertical components will solve your problem. As said, H/HV failure can cause the same diagnostic blinks. This can either be the Hout (Q502?) and/or the FBT (T504).
Lots of luck.

Can you help me of how to replace what is needed? i am pretty good with replacing parts. If you can tell me what part is needed then i can figure out how to replace it. Thanks [email protected]
Thank you very much for the precaution and lead into solving my prob. Its pretty heavy, if it worth fixing then i'll do it but if it costs too much i wouldnt want to pay for the repair. Thank you again.
I have a very similar problem with my TV. The TV is very slow to start up, then often we only get 4 blinks from the power light. We have discovered banging on he top or side of box will restore picture. Also picture can condense to top of screen, partially lose vertical hold (half height picture) but can be restored with "Tapping" top or side of box". Please advise if this fault is repairable and estimate cost. [Sony Trinitron 32"] Thanks (Andrew [email protected])
