2wire wireless connection

I have an HP Pavillion running XPsp3. the wireless card on the computer is good because I use it at school. It will not connect to my home wireless AT&T Uverse gateway, even though I am using the WPA key provided on the gateway. Another computer we have has no problem connecting to the same wireless gateway. I think my wireless settings on my comptuer must be incorrect. does this have anything to do with windows' 'wireless zero'?

Yes !
Wireless zero configuration service should run.

Go to control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, then then locate and double-click on Wireless zero configuration.
Change the Startup type to Automatic, and then click on Start. (Apply and OK).

Also you have to check your Wireless network settings configuration -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

If you are using some utility for wireless connection, disable it and try with Windows (standard) wireless connection.

On the end, it might be useful to compare these above settings with the settings on your another computer and find the differences.

Regards.

Cant connect to wireles network . will not find network. not sure if equipprd with wireless adaptor

I don't think it has a wireless adapter as standard, you can check by doing this:

Right click on My Computer and chose Properties.
Click on Hardware and then Device Manager. This lists all the Hardware in your PC.
Next double click on Network Adapters.
If there is a wireless card listed here then you will be be able to connect to a wireless network. If not then you'll have to purchase one from a PC shop.

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

I need help installing my 2wire wireless adapter card.

I used this one:

Introduction
============
This document describes the procedure to install driver for the 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter under Microsoft Windows, and to run a wireless configuration program to configure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to work with a 2Wire HomePortal or OfficePortal wireless gateway. These drivers work under Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

STEP 1 - Driver Installation
============================
1. Make sure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter has not been connected to your computer USB port.
2. Double-click on the file to run WinZip Self-Extractor. The driver installation files will be placed in your hard disk in the C:\TWWUSB_TEMP directory
3. Connect your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to an available USB port in your computer. Windows Found New Hardware Wizard will startup.
4. Select the option to search for driver in specific location. Specify C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP as the location of driver.
5. Follow on-screen instruction to finish driver installation.

STEP 2 - Wireless Configuration
===============================
1. Run the program WirelessCfg.exe in the directory C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP. You can do so by clicking on the Windows Start button and select Run. The Windows Start button is typically at the lower left corner of the screen. Type in C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP\WirelessCfg.exe to launch the program.
2. Follow on-screen instruction to configure your wireless setting. Enter the serial number and encryption key as they are printed on the bottom of your 2Wire wireless gateway.

How do I set up a home network without internet?

Hi

By default, your wireless connection for your 2wire 1000HW is enabled.Assuming that everything is installed properly in your laptop ie wireless cards etc. than you can view your wireless connection using Dell Wireless connection tool and HP wireless tool. Your know its your network when it says 2wirexxxx {x=combined numbers}. To locate the built-in, 10-digit wireless encryption key for your system, please look at the bottom of the product [2wire] near the bar code label - looks like this : [xxxxxxxxxx].

If you want to access the 2wire Graphic Unit Interface ,you can access it by opening your browser and on your address bar type in homeportal- assuming you are able to connect to your 2wire wirelessly. You can view your network and change you wireless settings. This may also help you :

http://shastademo.2wire.com/rgw3-3/rgw/3-3/homeportal/network/wireless_settings.html

To connect your printer you must have a Print Server [ dep[ends on what model of laserjet you are using } and connected to your printer. Again you will need the encryption key to get it running. You must share your printer on each laptop by going to control panel and share it . In there you willl have the chance to change and modify the settings. You can also use the Windows File and Sharing Wizard. to get it both running.

Hope that would help you a bit. Pls feel free to post your questions in Fixya for further assistance.

Wish you all the best.

Cheers.
