Do I need to oil my Janome 525S sewing machine?

It's a fairly simple mechanical model.

If you have a instruction manual look in it for oiling instructions and if you don't have a manual or it doesn't say anything about oiling,, then go to the website of janome and contact their customer service and ask them if you can oil the machine.. some machine can be oiled and some can not..

SOURCE: how to "tune-up" mechanical Kenmore sewing machine

Sure! Jenny at http://blog.sew-classic.com/categories/Sewing%20Machine%20Repair.aspx has several very good, in-depth articles about servicing your own machine, but here are the basic steps:

1. Take out the bobbin case and bobbin holder.
2. Take the needle plate off.
3. Brush out all the old lint in the bobbin area and under the needle plate. Remove any loose bit of thread.
4. Open the head of the machine (should swing open). Clean any lint or thread that's caught in there.
5. Locate your machine's oil ports and put one drop of sewing machine oil (only use sewing machine oil) in each of them. One drop is sufficient. General rule of thumb: Put one drop of oil wherever metal moves against metal.
6. Using unwaxed dental floss, floss the tension disks.
7. Put everything back together.

If you need a manual, I found one at http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals.com/173/InventoryPage/1834489/1.html.

Hope this is useful!

SOURCE: why is the motor of my sears kenmore sewing

it could be different things
have you checked to make sure the plug is correctly in the machine
one time I was sewing on my necchi electronic machine & it for some reason was going slow like you mentioned & so I started checking different thing & found the cord to the foot pedal was laying in side the foot pedal & it couldn't go any faster untill I moved the cord out of the way
it could also be the motor
& also the power cord & foot pedal
it's possible it needs to be serviced since it's been sitting up so long & since it's sewing at a snails pace

I have been given janome 525s the material not feeding through the foot. Unless i pull material it wont move

Make sure the feed dogs have not been dropped, ie for darning or free motion quilting. Also, make sure the stitch length is set high enough to actually create a forward stitch.

Machine seems to be set up correctly but won't stitch. What do I need to do?

If, as you have noted, this is a mechanical machine, my suspicion is that it has not been cleaned and oiled recently and possibly the old oil has solidified preventing the parts from moving.

Here is a web site that may be helpful:
Janome Domestic Sewing Machine Maintenance

You may not need to go to the extent of removing parts and soaking them in cleaner, but certainly cleaning the dust & lint and then oiling with a fresh good quality sewing machine oil may be the ticket to your resolution.

Janome sewist 525s my bobbin shuttle keeps popping out

try another bobbin, that one might be warped
use a can of computer air in the bobbin area for lint
if the problem persists then the machine should be checked

Can you please tell me how to change the bulb for a Janome sewist 525s thank you

You have to take off the cap to the screw on the side of the cover. It is just bellow the foot tension. and then unscrew the side. It will then come right off, you may have to tug a little. Then, you can take the bulb out and replace it.

I have a Janome Sewist 525 and I love it, I've had for about 3 years and never had any problems. I have a question though. I have the manual that came with it and nowhere in the entire manual does it say...

some machine are self oiling, when they are run & they parts get warm to hot then the oil come out of the parts & it's self oil.
contact a janome dealer & ask if your model is self oiling
