Please post the model number for your washer. It sounds like your hot water valve has failed and is not closing. Unplug your washer's power cord and turn the hot water spigot that comes out of the wall on. If you still get water filling your washing machine, it's definitely the washer's valve and you will need to install a new set (hot and cold valves are both part of the same assembly).
If your washing machine will not fill, only hot or cold will fill or is slow to fill then read these tips. I have covered many of the things that can happen in these tips...
Please try to swap both the connections, hot to cold and cold to hot, swapping will hopefully work. If swapping wont work then the water inlet valve also known as inlet hose assembly is bad and needs replacement. Please check the water level switch as well although I believe it is the water inlet valve causing this problem.
sounds like the hot cold water valve is bad,you also have the water level switch, the switch has a water level hose on it,some times the hose comes loose, chech y=that also, let me know what you find-mike
3 things to check.. Make sure that you are getting hot water upply. Check your water inlet valve. IF both are ok then check the switch to make sure that it is sending power to the water inlet valve to let it open. These parts can be found behind the knobs after you remove the cover
unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not. need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin. if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch. if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.
