Re: Freezer not working
You may have a bad (open) fan motor after unpluging the freezer check the motor see if you can turn it easly then unplug the motor and check it with an Ohm Meter. You should have continuity thru the motor.. let me know what you find out...

Yes ur correct. the fan can be accessed by removing the back panel wall from ur freezer dept. sometimes u will have to remove the bottom panel first a couple screws are all it takes
The refrigerator compartment is cooled by the cold air from the freezer. This air is blown in through a vent between the freezer and refrigerator compartment by the evaporator coil fan in the freezer. If the vent is blocked or the fan is not working would be the reason that the Bottom is cooling but the refrigerator is not.
To troubleshoot, you must remove the panel that covers the evaporator coil in the freezer. You will need to remove the contents of the lower section of the freezer to get access to the panel near the bottom of the freezer. Once the panel is removed, you should be able to confirm whether the fan is spining. If it does not turn and it is plugged in and the refrigerator is not in defrost mode, then the problem is with the fan motor.
If the fan is spinning but you notice ice buildup on the coil, the problem is with the defrost circuit. Typically the failures are with the defrost timer not functioning or that the defrost heater has failed. thanks for ratinggood luck
The vent from the freezer to the fridge can be blocked with frost and is preventing the flow of cool air to the fridge.
This can happen if there is frost build up due to failure of the auto defrost timer.
So please check on the fan section , remove panel and see if there is frost or block, if so check the timer Heater and the thermostat.

There is a new replacement fan available for your refrigerator, it comes as a kit with a new mounting bracket. They had a lot of issues with this model. You can replace it yourself- it is located in the freezer compartment behind the back wall and has 3 wire connections and a clip in style mounting bracket. You may have to remove the ice maker if you have one to get the back panel out. Good luck!
check to see if the fan motor in the freezer is running. all the cooling happens in the freezer and the fan is what circulates the cold air down to the refrigerator.. if the fan isnt running ,it could be a bad connection or a bad fan motor..on some models the doors need to be closed before the fan comes on so just push on the door switch to check .if the fan is running then a defrost problem may be the problem.. you mentioned you defrosted the unit. if the auto defrost isnt working, you would notice frost on the back of the freezer. there would be a lot more frost behind that panel that could block the airflow down to the frig. you would have to remove rear panel of freezer to clear all the frost and restore proper airflow..remember to unplug the frig before doing any work..
Check the evaporator fan , freezer must have a fan to avoid ice formation, if evaporator does not work, thermic sensor jams up and freezer stop working. The fan is located behind the panel in the freezer.
Check the back of your freezer, If there is frost or ice, then the unit is not defrosting. This is often caused by problems with evaporator system. Sometimes you also need to check the defrost timer, located at the top of the FFC on the Top freezer. Check also the defrost thermostat, which is on the evaporator inside
the freezer. If
it isnt defrosting, change both.
most fridges are cooled by the freezer. There is usually a fan in the freezer section that blows cold air in the fridge section vial some duct work. I expect that the fan has failed or that the air passage is blocked. look inside the fridge, near the very top on the side next to the freezer. You should see a vent/grill.
