Cannot get my mp3 player to operate on the aux input consistently

I have a 2004 Pontiac Montana. It has 3 RCA-plug inputs. I have figured out which two are needed for audio input. Oddly, it's NOT the red and white plugs.

I have plugged my mp3 player into the aux inputs and have gotten it to play a couple of times. I have done this by pushing randomly on the CD/Aux button, the ''Source'' button located on the DVD player console, and the button that tunes the radio and serves some other functions as well.

Problem is, I can't figure out what order to push what buttons in, and the car owner's manual doesn't deal with the aux inputs in the audio seciton.

How do I get an mp3 player, properly plugged in, to play through the car's audio system? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a 2002 Pontiac Montana and I use a 2 pronged RCA plug at one end with a yellow plug and a white plug, and the other end is one plug to use for the MP3 player. Plug your RCA plugs into the bottom 2 plugs. My RCA plugs on my cord are yellow and black the yellow one is in the middle
plug and the black in the bottom one and I use the AUX input for my MP3 player. I have a SANSA
and a Ipod and they both work fine. I hope this helps. Just a FYI so you don't think your radio is
going whacko after you do get the MP3 player to work the AUX will always come on first and you will have to push the AM/FM button on the dash or the steering wheel to get the radio or DVD back on.
And the DVD player will have to be switched on for the AUX to play the MP3 player.
Have fun...

HOW DO I LOCATE THE AUX INPUT ON A 2005 PONTIAC MONTANA

If it isn't visable, you need to get an adapter, which means taking out the radio to install one. I don't think they put a visable aux input in your model until 2007.

Can i plug an ipod or mp3 to this system

By looking online I see there is a aux input for your system. Get a cable with a stereo mini plug on each end. This is the end you find on MP3 player headphones. Plug the cable in and choose Aux with your source button . You will have to turn up your volume on the mp3 player some, maybe half way....and could be higher depending on the unit. The RCA volume must be used also, set it to at least 25% and give it a try. Adjust MP3 player input down as needed.

I cant figure out how to get an MP3 player to play through my CD player....it has 3 different audio rca jacks in the back...i try all three none worked....is there an AUX setting that need to put my cd...

what kind of cd player do you have? you must make sure that your unit has auxillary inputs. some decks dont have them. if it is set up with aux input rca's, then you just connect those to the mp3 player, then you should be able to play it in the aux mode on the deck. if you cant find it by hitting the source button, then you may not have it. I know on my sony stereo, I actually had to turn the deck off with the ignition switch on. then I press the menu button, and there I can toggle the aux mode on or off. if that doesnt work either, then you either dont have aux inputs, or the inputs are bad on the stereo, meaning its not gonna work at all.

Cannot find RCA or Aux Outputs?!

Whether or not you have the aux button, you may/may not have the input on the front where it's supposed to be. It sounds like you don't. Here is an illustration of both versions of the radio with the auxiliary button, but only one has the actual input.
Here is your radio:

aux input missing-ryczzxrpfyt1olhprtolbbqt-4-0.jpg Here is what others may have:

aux input present-ryczzxrpfyt1olhprtolbbqt-4-2.jpg Notice both have the aux input button, but only the bottom one has the physical input in place. This was probably done to cut manufacturing costs.

The RCA inputs would have been a part of an aftermarket harness, not OEM. I found one for a 2003, but nothing for 2004. Here is the link:

Can I stream mp3 to Bose lifestyle50

Sure, you can hook up any mp3 player to this system. What you will need is a headphone to stereo RCA cable. Then, plug the headphone connection into the mp3 headphone jack and the RCA ends into your Bose aux input. You can use any of the inputs (Video 1, 2, Tape) just remember which one you are plugged into.

Jensen cd 2610 aux input has little volume

first of all the rca jacks in the back of your radio are for plugging in an amp, not your mp3 player. there should be an auxiliary jack(looks like a headphones jack) in the front of the head unit. if there is no auxiliary jack in the front then you will have to go buy a new head unit with an auxiliary jack.

Can I plug my MP3 player into the aux. socket on my car radio, with the appropriate cable and play the stored music?

You should be able to do that as long as you have the right cable.

Most of the mp3 players have a "mini-stereo" jack (3.5mm) and some car stereos have the same type of jack for "aux" input, and others car stereos have RCA jacks for the "aux" input.

Even if the jacks are not the same type, you can use an adapter cable that converts the mini-stereo jack to an RCA jack. You can find them at many places like Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack.

Depending on the type of car stereo you have, you would normally press the source button to change between the tuner, cd player, aux or whatever you may have connected to the stereo. You may even have a seperate button to press for the "aux" input.

I hope this was helpful to you, if you need more information just ask, and please give more info on the type of mp3 player and the make and model number of the car stereo.
