My playstation 3 concole keeps over heating and shutting down

Unfortunately with a lot of consumer electronics, especially video game consoles, the internal components and heat syncs deteriorate over time. My suggestion to you would be to make sure your console is in a well ventilated location away from anything that could be keeping heat close to it. Also, make sure the room you're playing in isn't become hot from all the heat expulsion from any electronics on, as this may cause the problem. If the problem persists, you may need to seek warranty work or a repair.

It can be a number of reasons. Here's what I would do:
Clean the system with compressed air, back up your game saves, perform full system restore.

the same thing happen to me. the time got shorter and shorter every time i tried to play.I found a website www.videogame911.com that fixes game systems. they were fast and fairly cheap. You can even chat with the person working on your system.
