Okay, this feels stupid, but here goes. my contractor finished & left a dusty mess. He let me borrow his shop vac, which I've never used, but left it unhooked. I can't get the hose to connect to the vac. Can't find instructions online either. Please help.

I'm not certain I have all the parts to my Shop Vac. I have no instructions so I need help describing how it works and a picture of the main parts.
Thanks for any help. Julia Harris

You **** up water the same way as dirt. It's designed this way, hence the name wet/dry. Just be sure not to get the water in the very top of the unit where the motor sucks the air for cooling ventilation, if water gets in there it can burn up the motor. A little hard way, personal experience, speaking there.

If you are going to use the wet vac to remove water, be sure to remove the bag inside the canister first. Also, some wet vacs have an internal float that has to be installed, but that may not be the case with yours.

when picking up dry materials use the foam sleeve that slips on and the blue cloth (assuming there all blue) over it, there should be a ring that slides over blue cloth to hold it in place over the foam sleeve, for wet pick up u can use the foam sleeve minus the blue cloth but let it dry out before picking up dry stuff, you can pick up both wet and dry with a cartrige filter that looks simular to a car air filter and it slips over the foam sleeve, but let it dry out after picking up water before picking up dry cause itll just clog it up
