Downloaded movie disappeared. AND disconnecting from computer

The first two movies i transferred to thr sansa stayed on my player long enought for me to watch them twice in one night. But the next day they were no longer on my player. Today i downloades a new movie to my player. by the time I disconnected my player from the computer (the correct way) it had disappeared. What is happening? Also My computer does not always display the "remove extra portsproperly" arrow. What do you do then?
