I had a connection problem earlier today for my actiontec and pc. I was able to resolve it, but now my laptops won't connect wireless. They both say they are connected but I am not able to access any websites. Please advise.
Hi, Run a command window (Start, Run, type "cmd" without the quotes, Type "ping 192.168.0.1, it should answer back> Reply from 192.....TTL=xx, if yes, then you are connected to the router; If no, type "ipconfig /all" to check your IP settings which should match your router's DHCP assigned numbers, others you can try are /flushdns, /release, /renew/ Type "ping 209.131.36.158, it should answer back> Reply from 209.....TTL=xx, if yes then you are connected to the router and have access to internet; If no, and yes to 192..., your router is not granting you internet access or the router itself does not have internet access. Review what corrective measure/steps you have taken earlier that could have affected your internet access. Make sure that your Default Gateway is the IP add of your router. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
