You may have a stuck button and not know it. look at the led end of the remote with the camera on your cell phone. If you have a stuck button you will see the led flashing. If it isn't flashing. push a button to see the led flash. Keep pushing different buttons to see if the led will flash without holding a button down. If you push a button and the led doesn't flash, it can be worn carbon button or the ic in the remote is failing If this test procedure does not find why the remotes die. you may want to invest in a a remote that will never become obsolete or worry about codes to operate more devices. It's called a Harmony remote. It's awesome. Logitech Harmony universal home theater remote and app
these 5 leds lights when phone is out of program. every phone should have his own indicator showing (when handset is off) his position in chain of phones. to make them stop flashing do following:
1. push and hold "PROGRAME" button until "MUTE" indicator lights (you'll hear beep sound). 2. push one "1" to "5" button on numeric keyboard depending on telephone's position in chain (must be unique). 3. push "MEMORY" button. Now when you pickup handset only one indicator should light.
The flashing lights usually indicate a jam or the flapper door not met which means a drink already dispensed. Just guessing here, but you may have a board problem. I have removed one dispensing drive motor and if I press that button all lights blink until I open the door and close it. Any chance you have a lot of ice buildup in the back? That could be causing a short or even caused connectors to loosen. A new connector board is $22 on partselect.com but that would again only be a guess.
