Jet ski troubleshooting

kawasaki ultra 260's are only cooled by lake or sea water so if the water supply gets blocked then it will overheat ! did it definatly overheat or just loose power because the superchargers do sieze up due to damp air or the pully bearing , also the dipsticks on them sometimes shear off and lock the cogs ! does the engine still run up on a hose pipe ? also has the ski been left a long time not used without fogging the valves in the head ? this is my job so get back to me ( 30 yrs ) ..

I have a 1987 Kawasaki js550 Jet Ski with low compression. it has 170 in the front piston and 50 in the back what could be done besides having a stuck piston ring?

You will have to pull the engine out and rebuild the top end. You will probably have to bore the cylinders. Purchase a piston kit that comes with gaskets and seals. Reseal the crankshaft with the new seals and your motor should be good for another 23 years.

Kawasaki jet ski starter motor removal

To get access to the starter you will probably have to lift the motor out of the machine. Most Kawaski hulls do not give you much room to work. When you take the exhaust off you may have enough room to unbolt the starter.

Jet ski bogs out under load.

I had a similar experience with that model. It turned out to be a mouse nest in the water box. However , in this case i think you just have some moisture corrosion on the rubber tipped needle in the carburetor. Clean that part of the carb and do not alter the tiny spring in any way. If that does not work open the electronics box, if it is wet , dry it out , and seal it back up. Those are the three things I know of that will cause your problem. Start with the carb.

Jet Ski Will not start when cold

If the teeter/totter needles are gummy or covered with moisture corrosion it could be the reason the machine is so hard to start. When storing the jet ski's syphon all the gas out and burn it in your car or truck. Even if you stabilize it it wont be good fuel in the spring. Your plastic tank will not rust so remove the fuel. You may be able to clean them up by running a tank of Chevron Techron through them. Before riding we charge are batteries and start are jet ski's on the trailer/lift before dropping in the lake. This saves the battery. It takes more juice to start the boat in the water.
